Sharon Stern

Sharon Stern is a clinical psychologist who has worked in psychology for almost 25 years. She has general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology. She is an AHPRA endorsed clinical supervisor, an accredited EMDR practitioner and a credentialed eating disorder practitioner. Sharon has worked with a range of diverse populations in both public and private sector settings over the course of her career.

Sharon became interested in complex trauma when she was working at an eating disorders day program. She discovered that almost all clients coming through the program had a trauma story underlying their eating disorder. She began a ‘deep dive’ into the world of complex trauma, and for the last 10 years has learned all she can about treating trauma and dissociation. This has included training in psychedelic assisted therapy, advanced EMDR Masterclasses, and training in Relational Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

Sharon believes strongly in the importance of an authentic therapeutic collaboration. Her approach is human and integrative, drawing from relational psychoanalytic psychotherapy, the theory of structural dissociation, internal family systems therapy, somatic experiencing, and EMDR. She is well versed in dialectical behaviour therapy, schema therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. She is a member of the EMDR Association of Australia and the Australian Clinical Psychology Association.
