Michelle is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Psychotherapist (MSWQ, MCAP), a clinician with extensive experience who has worked with a range of clinical presentations in a variety of settings including; Federal Government, private practice, intensive outpatient eating disorder treatment and at Butterfly Foundation as National Manager Treatment and Support Services. Michelle works with client’s 18 years and over who are experiencing a range of body image issues, disorder eating, eating disorder presentations and comorbidities, in addition to providing support and counselling to carers and families caring for a loved one with an eating disorder.

Michelle uses a strengths-based, compassionate, and holistic approach and believes it is important to create a safe, therapeutic space for people to share their vulnerabilities and feel supported.

Michelle’s treatment approach draws from various evidence-based modalities that she has been trained in to inform practice, these include; Trauma Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Narrative Therapy.

To compliment her private practice work, Michelle is a Sessional Presenter with Butterfly Foundation’s Prevention team, delivering specialist programs which address factors that influence negative body image, disordered eating and the development of eating disorders; to professionals, parents and students in schools.

Michelle has a Master of Social Work (Qualifying), Master of Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy, Bachelor of Arts (Social Science) and is an ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder Practitioner. Michelle has full registration with the AASW Australian Association of Social Workers and can provide Medicare rebates.
